Summer in Japan Soap by SHALU

Or you could try the almond variety, too, of course. Or any of the subtle, fragrant soaps sold in the SHALU shop. We have some that Amisha made for us and they are long-lasting (our hand soap has lasted more than four months of daily washing per bar; shower soap lasts about two months per bar), work for sensitive skin, and have a very light, fresh smell. They’re a daily luxury, and when I think of Amisha in her kitchen making them, it feels even nicer to use them. (She also makes lipbalm and lipstick and lotion, although it doesn’t look like there’s any in stock right now.)

Almond Soap by SHALU

For who: people who wash their hands and/or bodies and who have no issues with soap fragrance. People who wear lipstick or have chapped lips. Your babysitter. Your mail carrier! Perfect for a stocking, too.

What’s to love about it: Amisha makes her soap and balms in small batches in her kitchen. The soaps are firm, weighty, and long-lasting. Her lipstick (vanilla cardamom) is like wearing a house where there’s a cake baking. Except less unwieldy.

Where you can get it: right here in the SHALU online shop—but note that shipping is within the US only. (Contact Amisha if you’d like to arrange shipping outside of the US.)
